June 23 Scripture Reading

Scripture Readings:  Psalm 111, 2 Kings 9-10:17, Galatians 4:1-20

Reflection Verse:  Galatians 4:9

Reflection:  Old habits are often difficult to break.  In Christ we are made a new person free from our old stuff.  We are, however, subject to being enticed back to our old ways.  Paul addresses this issue and seeks to let the Galatian Christians know that this is what they were doing. Beloved, please know that you have been set free in Jesus from the weak sinful things that had you bound. DO NOT allow those things to re-enslave you!

Prayer: Dear God, I am thankful that you have set me free from sinful habits and vices. Help me, Lord, and strengthen me to stay free and to stay faithful to You.  I am Your servant and not anyone else’s.  Disciple me, O’ Lord, and mature me in the faith so I will stay strong and able to resist any enticements to return to my old ways. I ask this in Jesus’ Name.  Amen.
