July 8 Scripture Reading
Scripture Readings: Psalm 119:41-48, I Chronicles 8, Philippians 2:12-30
Reflection Verses: Philippians 2:14-16a
Reflection: Since God is producing in the Christian, the willing and the doing of HIS good and perfect will, there can be no legitimate reason for murmurings or disputings. Christians are not only forbidden to complain about the difficulties and persecutions that will befall them because of carrying out God’s good pleasure but quarreling among themselves is also prohibited. The reward for obedience to these commands are that they will become the blameless and harmless children of God amid a wicked generation. There is no time in our lifetime that this seems to hit home more than this present time. Beloved, live for God now so that you can live with God forever!
Prayer: Heavenly Father, as a Christian I desire to appear as a light in this world. I want my life to stand out because the love and light of Christ is in me. As I live my life among people, Lord, please allow my life to reflect the glorious light of Christ on those who are around me. Keep me from doing anything to diminish Your light in me, Lord. Help me to submit fully to You, that my life may be above reproach; one that is not known for grumbling, complaining, disputing or anything that would diminish Your glory in me… I ask this in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
