July 18 Scripture Reading
Scripture Readings: Psalms 119:120-128, I Chronicles 26:20-27, Luke 1:57-80
Reflection Verse: Luke 1:58
Reflection: Most of us rejoice and celebrate the birth of a child. This is particularly true when a child is born in our family, to one of our friends or in our church family. It is during these times that we bump into hope and maybe a glimpse of something new for us. John was a remarkably unique child being born to an older, childless couple, and among some unusual circumstances. His birth was a fulfillment of prophecy and brought much joy to his parents as they anticipated the work that God had for their son.
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to rejoice in every new birth, whether natural or spiritual. Enable me to see their potential to do great things for You and The Kingdom of God. Give me a mind to celebrate them and trust You to do something wonderful with their life. Help all of us in the Body of Christ to be open and receptive of each newborn and that we may be willing to assist in their growth in You. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
