July 21 Scripture Reading
Scripture Readings: Psalms 119:145-152, 2 Chronicles 4-6:11, Luke 3
Reflection Verses: Luke 3:7
Reflection: John the Baptist is asked those who were following him, “Why did you decide that you needed to repent?” John wanted them to understand that if a person was going to repent and be baptized then it would require a changed life going forward; a changed life evidenced by works that would please God. This is not just something you get caught up in because the crowd is doing it. Beloved, our belief in God is personal and requires our personal response and commitment.
Prayer: Father God, I understand that my faith in You is personal. I commit to You and the way You desire me to live my life. I acknowledge that I fail sometimes and I ask for YOUR forgiveness and help to improve on my journey. Thank You for this privilege and Your love for me… In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
