Scripture Readings:  Psalm 78:17-31, Joshua 19:10-20, Mark 2:1-22

Reflection Verse:  Joshua 20:9

Reflection:  In ancient Israel, six cities of refuge were set apart to protect a person who had unintentionally killed someone. If this person could get to one of these 6 cities, they would be protected from the avenger of blood (family member who was to kill him for killing one of their family members). At the city of refuge, the city elders would try the case to determine innocence.

Prayer:   Holy Father, How awesome You are in every way! How faithful! How loving! How just! Thank You, Lord, for being the Lover of my soul. Thank You for Your awesome provision. I praise You, Lord, that you set up a system of justice which seeks to punish the guilty and protect the innocent. Thank You for Your protection – for our refuge is in Jesus, the Holy One – and it is in Jesus’ Name that we pray. Amen.
