August 11 Scripture Reading

Scripture Readings: Psalm 136:1-15, Nehemiah 3-4, Luke 12:41-59

Reflection Verses: Psalm 136:2-3

Reflection: Psalm 136 gives thanks and praise to God for His goodness. The fact that God is good is fundamental to all that God is and does. We know that God is love (1 John 4:8 and 4:16), and that love is an expression of His goodness. This is a wonderful reason to give God thanks. Another reason to thank God is because God’s mercy never ends and will always be given to His people. How wonderful it is to know that our God is greater than any of the supposed gods or lords of the nations. Beloved, the God we serve is worthy to be praised!

Prayer: Holy and eternal God, You are the God of god’s and the Lord of lord’s. There is no other God than You. Your mercy endures forever. How awesome You are, Lord, for You are good and your mercy endures forever. Daily I receive Your mercy and goodness into my life. Thank You for extending it to me… In Jesus’ name. Amen.
