As taught in the 3rd chapter of 1st Timothy, Deacons are vital to the success of the ministry. The Deacon upholds the Pastor’s arm, they are prayer warriors, they are skilled in the Holy Scriptures and help with teaching Bible Study and Sunday School. The Deacons are members of the Executive Council and oversee the upkeep of the ministry facilities. The Deacon shall be selected and ordained by the Pastor. The Board of Deacons can nominate members in good standing for the Pastor’s consideration. The Deacons shall qualify and serve in the terms listed below.Â
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE DEACONS.Â
- Their lives must fully comply with the scriptures and with church standards.
- They are required to assist the Pastor in all duties when so asked by the Pastor. They shall follow all instructions given by the Pastor.
- They shall look over and see after the physical welfare of the church as well as assisting the Pastor and ministers in the spiritual aspects.
- They shall see after the cleanliness and upkeep of the church building and grounds.
- They shall inform and consult with the Pastor on any matters that may injure the ministry.
- They shall reprimand in the spirit of love, any person that may be acting disorderly in the church.
