Scripture Readings: Psalm 90, I Samuel 14:36-15, Mark 14:1-26
Reflection Verse: I Samuel 15:24-25
Reflection: It seemed like Saul did everything we would think we need to do, in order to get back into God’s and Samuel’s good graces. However, Saul is God’s chosen leader. As such, Saul was to model strong, obedient leadership to the people. But Saul chose to please people instead of waiting to please God. Beloved, there is a price to be paid when leaders pass off what they do as being from God – when they know that they have a lack of trust in God.
Prayer: Holy Father, we are in awe of the goodness and mercy that You show toward us every day! Thank You, Lord, for choosing us to be leaders in a world where most people want to do their own thing. Help us, Lord, to be the kind of leader that seeks to please You in all we do. Help us to be willing to wait on You and do what pleases You instead of what will pleases the crowd… In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
