Scripture Readings: Psalm 97, 1 Samuel 30-31, I Corinthians 3
Reflection Verses: I Samuel 31:11-13
Reflection: After the battle the men of Jabesh-Gilead went to Beth Shan, took down the exposed bodies of Saul and his sons, burned them and properly buried them. Then they fasted 7 days. The men of Jabesh-Gilead did what right in God’s sight. Beloved, although, King Saul was a flawed leader, still he was called to lead by God – and due the respect and honor due to God’s chosen and called leaders. Think about that.
Prayer: Holy Father, thank You for being our God. We are aware that men are imperfect, even though You call and use them. Help us to trust You in Your selection of leaders – and help us as we seek to follow and respect them. Our desire, Lord, is to follow our leaders as they follow You…In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
