July 16 Scripture Reading

Scripture Readings:  Psalms 119:105-112, I Chronicles 23:24:19, Luke 1:1-25

Reflection Verse:  Luke 1:13

Reflection:  Quieting Zecharias’ fears, the angel told him that his prayers had been answered, and his childless wife would have a son to be named John. I do not know how long Zecharias had been praying or even if he had stopped praying for a son, seeing that he and his wife were both well stricken in years. One would suppose that they had both given up on that prayer when the natural time for child bearing had seemingly passed them by. However, God is not bound by nature or time. Yes, it was now too late, from the natural viewpoint, to have a son, but Zacharias had not forgotten his altar and his duty. He kept offering incense, which is a symbol of thanksgiving, when there seemed so little to be thankful for. Beloved, do not forsake your incense, do not cease to give God thanks, and the angel will yet appear! The herald from heaven announced a son. God often waits until it is too late with us; it is never too late with Him. God will always answer prayer according to His will.

Prayer:  Father God, You are The Faithful God! You always keep Your Promises!!!  As I walk with You, Lord, may I see the answers to my prayers unfold before me.  Help me to totally comprehend Your Word and be aware of what You are doing.  Give me understanding, enable me to walk in it and know its certainty. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
