July 20 Scripture Reading

Scripture Readings:  Psalms 119:137-144, 2 Chronicles 1-3, Luke 2:21-52

Reflection Verses:  Luke 2:49-50

Reflection:  Jesus was clearly a special child.  His birth was marked by some unusual events including a census, shepherds, wise men and even angels. Jesus was in the temple as a 12-year-old teaching the Temple elders as they marveled at His wisdom. He was not on the same page with His parents who were frantically looking for Him after He was not with them for three days. Jesus was found in the Temple where He seemed to be right at Home. His parents did not understand what He was doing. Parenting is difficult and demanding in most circumstances but most especially when there is a special child involved. However, God blesses us with our children, and we are to do all we know to do to raise them in the fear of God.

Prayer:  Dear God, my Father. I thank You that I am a parent, but Lord, I need your help to raise my children. Keep me and all parents searching for understanding and seeking You for guidance as we raise the children You have given to us according to Your Will. Enable us to always seek what is right and best for them according to Your Word. In Jesus’ Name.  Amen.
