August 29 Scripture Reading

Scripture Readings:  Psalm 150, Job 16-18, Luke 23:13-43

Reflection Verse:  Luke 23:41

Reflection:  The man on the cross beside Jesus recognized that he was getting what he deserved, while Jesus was being punished without cause.  Jesus had committed no wrong to warrant the kind of treatment He received. The man believed in Jesus and because of the man’s belief in Jesus, he was told that he would be with Jesus in paradise. When we acknowledge our sin and seek God for forgiveness, we have the assurance of salvation and the hope of eternal life in Jesus.

Prayer:  Father God, I am grateful that Jesus died for all sinners, me included. Thank You that I acknowledged my condition as a sinner and sought You for forgiveness. Thank You, Father God that Your love for me has opened a way for forgiveness of my sin, and reconciliation to You through Jesus the Christ… In Jesus’ Name I pray.   Amen.
