October 10 Scripture Reading

Scripture Readings:  Proverbs 11:12-20, Isaiah 53-56, James 2

Reflection Verse:  James 2:1

Reflection:  The glorious faith we have, the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, should never be associated with partiality, or rather, discrimination. The Lord of glory Himself shows no partiality or discrimination, so neither should those who put their trust in Him. We do well to remember that James wrote to a very partial age, filled with prejudice and hatred based on class, ethnicity, nationality, and religious background. In the ancient world people were routinely and permanently categorized because they were Jew or Gentile, slave or free, rich or poor, Greek or barbarian, or whatever. A significant aspect of the work of Jesus was to break down these walls that divided humanity, and to bring forth one new race of mankind in Him (Ephesians 2:14-15).

Prayer:  Father, in this world, which is so divided and cruel, help me to demonstrate true faith in You by not showing partiality to anyone based on race, color, creed, religious background, or whatever. Help me, Lord to treat ALL people the way that YOU treat all people. As I mature in my faith in You, please help me to grow to this all the more… In Jesus’ Name.  Amen.
