October 15 Scripture Reading

Scripture Readings:  Proverbs 12:14-20, Jeremiah 2-3, John 1:29-51

Reflection Verses:  John 1:47-48

Reflection:  Jesus gave Nathaniel a wonderful compliment. The sense is that there was nothing tricky or deceptive in Nathaniel. In other word, Jesus was saying that the course of Nathaniel’s life, and conversation, was with great integrity, and uprightness, and without any prevailing hypocrisy and deceit, either to God, or men. Jesus said that to show how much such a character is approved by Him; and that He knew the secrets of men’s hearts, and the inward frames of their minds. Beloved, Jesus is the Truth. Jesus speaks Truth and nothing is hid from Him as Nathaniel learned and accepted. We too, should accept that Jesus is Truth, and we should live truth to the extent that Jesus may say of us, that there is no guile/deceit found in us.

Prayer:  Dear Heavenly Father, just as Nathaniel recognized and accepted the truth of Jesus, help us to always accept truth. Help us to live our lives without deceit, without trickery or crookedness, that YOU may be pleased with us and that others may recognize YOUR truth in us. Father, help us also to be helpful to others who seek YOUR truth… In Jesus’ Name.  Amen.
