August 16 Scripture Reading

Scripture Readings:  Psalm 139:13-24, Nehemiah 11:15-12:26, Luke 15:11-32

Reflection Verse:  Luke 15:32

Reflection:  Beloved, anytime a person comes to Christ or comes back to Christ, repenting of their sins and receiving salvation, it is a joyous occasion and we are to celebrate it. I am so thankful, that even when we stray away, God still loves us and wants us back. Our God is merciful and when we return to God through faith in Jesus, God will receive us as part of His family.

Prayer:  Holy Father, Thank You for being so merciful to all of Your children. I repent of my attitude that thinks people ought to be left out of Your presence because of the past choices they have made even though they now repent of those choices.  I repent from wanting You to myself and my self-righteous attitude that I somehow deserve this. I call the prodigals of my family to return to You also, so that we can rejoice with You when You rejoice, Lord, and enjoy the good times we can have in Your awesome family… In Jesus’ name I pray.  Amen.
