August 4 Scripture Reading

Scripture Readings: Psalm 130, 2 Chronicles 36-Ezra 1, Luke 10:1-24

Reflection Verses: Ezra 1:2-3

Reflection:  It is amazing how God set the stage for His Chosen people to return to Jerusalem. Cyrus, the king, made the decree after God gave him a mandate to rebuild Your Temple in Jerusalem. And all this had been prophesied by Jeremiah years before Cyrus was even ruler. Cyrus followed God’s directions and allowed those Jewish exiles who were able to return to Jerusalem to do the work. He also allowed the other Jewish exiles to support those returning with money to finance the work. It is amazing how God accomplishes His work.

Prayer: Father God, I know that You work in strange ways sometimes, and that You use people who may even oppose You to accomplish Your will. So, help me to listen to and hear what You are saying, regardless of Who You choose to use to declare Your Will. Speak to me also, Lord, as to Your direction in my life. May I follow it as well as Cyrus did and accomplish Your purposes… In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
