August 5 Scripture Reading

Scripture Readings: Psalm 131, Ezra 2, Luke 10:25-42

Reflection Verse: Psalm 131:2

Reflection:  What a graphic picture the psalmist paints of his soul. He is saying that his soul is like a weaned child leaning against its mother in peace and quietness. And just as that child depends on his mother – the psalmist is leaning on God in trust, dependence, and rest. I am thankful that God offers that same quietness and peace regardless of what we have to face in this world.

Prayer: Lord God, when I lean on You, I find peace and quietness for my soul. Thank you, Lord, that I don’t have to be constantly seeking, engaging or struggling against anything. Thank You, Lord, that I am at rest with You. Keep me in that perfect peace that trust in You brings… In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
