July 4 Scripture Reading

Scripture Readings:  Psalm 119:9-16, I Chronicles 3-4:23, Ephesians 5:22-6:9

Reflection Verse:  Ephesians 6:4

Reflection:  Fathers are commanded not to agitate or irritate their children. In practice, this means avoiding unfair and cruel behavior, or blatant favoritism. Godly fathers are not to push their children toward anger. Instead, fathers (parents) are given a positive command to “bring them up.” In other words, Christian parents are expected to be highly involved in raising their children. Using godly discipline and instruction of The Lord, Christian parents should be involved in teaching our children about God’s ways through both education and example.

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, teach us to accept, understand and practice Your guidance as it concerns raising our children. We trust You, Lord, that as we accept Your teachings and guidance, our relationship with You will mature and our relationships with our children will become more caring and supportive also. It is our goal to lead to them to salvation in Jesus and to faithful service to You… In Jesus Name.  Amen.
