July 14 Scripture Reading

Scripture Readings:  Psalm 119:89-96, I Chronicles 17:16-20, Colossians 3:5-4:1

Reflection Verses:  Colossians 3:23-24

Reflection: Whatever job to which God called us, he wants us to serve him with it. Our work may subsist as a menial job; we may dislike our work. Still God wants us to serve him heartily in that job. He wants us to throw ourselves in our work. Now it is a fact that we will never receive full justice in this life. We may put in a good day’s work and receive no recognition for it. That’s life. However, the standard is still binding that a Christian is to put in a good day’s work regardless of the situation. A paycheck is just remuneration under our system. However, it is the reward of the Lord that counts.

Prayer:  Lord God, I thank you for gainful employment. Thank you, Lord, for the job I have is given to me as a provision from You, and my labor is to honor and please You.  Because of Your provision, I will give my employer my best efforts so that my employers will also be blessed by You and by me as their employee. I praise You, Lord, that I have been given an opportunity to serve You in the workplace and I am able to bring Your blessings to those who employ me. In Jesus’ name.  Amen
