July 13 Scripture Reading

July 13

Scripture Readings:  Psalm 119:81-88, I Chronicles 16:7-17:15, Colossians 2:6-3:4

Reflection Verses:  Colossians 2:6-7

Reflection: The Colossian Believers had been taught that Jesus is Messiah and Lord. The heretics denied Jesus’ atoning death and lordship. So, the Colossian Believers were urged to keep Jesus just as they had been initially taught – as Messiah and Lord. They were exhorted to continue to look to HIM for salvation and to continue in submission to HIS authority. Heretics are still denying Jesus today! Their message is perverse – but strong and pleasing to hear. Beloved no matter what you hear or who you hear it from – if you want to be saved, you must continue to look to Jesus for salvation and submit to His authority!

Prayer:  Gracious God, give me a mind to continue to believe in Christ, and to stay planted and firmly rooted in Him. Help me, Lord, to stay focused and receive good instruction which will keep me rooted and built up in HIM. Lead me Lord into a life that seeks to know HIM more fully… In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
